Archive for March, 2010

I just got a tasty little e-mail from my friends at the Savage River Lodge, www.savageriverlodge.com, who tell me of a wine tasting event that will take place on Saturday, March 13, from 3 – 5 pm. They will be tasting 8 different wines from Chateau St Michelle and serving light appetizers. I believe the cost is $35 pp. Please call 301.689.3200 for reservations as space is filling up. If you haven’t experienced the fine dining and atmosphere at Savage River Lodge, you are missing out on possibly the best dining in our beautiful tri-state area.

On a little aside, our resident chipmunks are out and about; teasing the dogs and stealing the birdseed. It should be 60 degrees today and I plan on getting some sun as I shovel the snow in the parking lot. We have a couple of rooms available this weekend, so come up and see us!

Hello from the beautiful Laurel Highlands!

We are enjoying a beautiful 36+” blanket of snow up here on the mountain and had some very determined guests trek in this past weekend to take advantage of the snow. They set out early and made the twenty-minute drive down to the Wisp Ski Resort in Deep Creek, and enjoyed a full day of “the best ski conditions ever!”. They then had an awesome dinner at the Pine Lodge Steakhouse before coming back to snuggle down next to the fire with a nice glass of wine.

It looks like the skiing will continue to be great at Wisp and Seven Springs as well as the many cross-country ski trails in the area, so bring your skis and head on up! Your home-away-from-home is waiting for you!
